What You Get
Price on Amazon: $199.99 | 4.6 stars from 14,989 ratings (checked October 15, 2026)
Design and Size
The HSP001 is a small tower, about 20 inches tall and 13 inches wide, and it weighs about 12 pounds. It comes in white and black. An LED panel on top shows fan speed, timer, sleep, light, anion and air quality, and each indicator has its own color. A remote control clips into the body, so you can change settings from the couch or the bed. The older review disliked the position of the control panel on such a short unit, since it sits low and is awkward to reach.
Looking ahead, small HEPA purifiers with an ionizer button are becoming standard, and the Hathaspace HSP001 is a good example. The catch is price drift. The older review called this unit low budget, yet the listing now shows $199.99, a number that sits well above better-known small units with higher airflow.
Filters and Features
- Filters. A pre-filter, a True HEPA filter, a cold catalyst filter, an activated carbon filter and an antibacterial layer. The older review also lists an ionizer.
- HEPA claim. The older review gave 99.97 percent at 0.3 microns in one place and 99.93 percent in another. Treat the figure as about 99.9 percent and check the manual.
- Air quality sensor. Shows the air level on the panel.
- Fan. Three speeds, a timer and a sleep mode.
- Power. About 40 watts.
- Warranty. 2 years, extendable to 5 years, per the older review.
- Gap. No filter-change reset light.
Ionizers and some UV or catalyst stages can make a little ozone. The EPA advises against adding ozone to indoor air, so run this unit with the ionizer off.
The risk to watch is the coverage claim. The older review said the HSP001 suits rooms up to 700 square feet, and also that it is perfect for 140 square feet at five air changes an hour. Both can be true only at different speeds of cleaning: with a CADR near 100, a 700 square foot room gets about one air change an hour, which does little for allergies or smoke. Expect more listings that lead with the biggest room number. Size by the five-times-an-hour figure and keep the ionizer off.
Noise, CADR and Real Room Size
The older review gave 18 dB on low and 43 dB on high. It put the CADR at about 100, which is on the low side for the price. Do the math. A 140 square foot room with an 8 foot ceiling holds 1,120 cubic feet, and 100 cubic feet a minute moves that in about 11 minutes, close to five air changes an hour. A 700 square foot room holds 5,600 cubic feet, so one air change takes about 56 minutes. That is why the 700 square foot claim and the 140 square foot claim sit side by side. Read what CADR means and how to choose the right size air purifier before you buy.
Filter Cost and Upkeep
The older review described the airflow as bottom to top and the filters as easy to reach. Vacuum the pre-filter every few weeks, and replace the main filters about every 6 to 8 months in a normal home. Use the air purifier filter replacement cost guide to estimate a year of filters before you buy.
Hathaspace vs Other Small Purifiers
The older review named the AirDog X3, the Airthereal APH260, the Okaysou AirMic4S and the Oransi OV200 as rivals. For a unit with a higher CADR at less than half the price, see our Levoit Core 300 review. The Okaysou has its own page too, our Okaysou AirMic4S review.
