This page was rechecked on October 10, 2026. We could not find the Alpine Air LA-2700 for sale on Amazon, and the old store link is dead. Spec details below come from the product’s older listing and may not match what is sold today. Prices for the alternatives were checked on Amazon the same day.
The Alpine Air NA Flare LA-2700 v.2.0 earned a following for its red cabinet, which looks more like furniture than an appliance. This page covers what the unit was sold as, what to question and what to buy if you cannot find one.
Table of Contents
What the Alpine Air LA-2700 Was Sold As
- Look: a red wood-grain tower, built to sit in a living room without sticking out.
- Weight: about 15 pounds.
- Filters: a HEPA-type filter, a carbon layer and a photocatalytic filter. The listing described them as washable.
- Ionizer: a built-in ionizer, with an optional ozone setting on a knob.
- Warranty: three years, per the listing.
- Coverage: up to 2,700 square feet, per the old listing.
Looking ahead, ozone rules are getting stricter. California already requires air cleaners to pass an ozone test, and other states are watching. That is good news for shoppers, since it pushes the market toward purifiers that clean the air without adding a lung irritant. The catch is that older models with an “ozone” knob keep floating around on resale sites.
What to Question
The coverage number
A claim of 2,700 square feet sounds huge, and it is almost certainly the model number talking. A purifier’s real coverage comes from its CADR, which is measured at a lab. No CADR was published for this unit, so you cannot match it to a room. Our guide to how to read a CADR rating explains the math, and the CADR calculator will do it for you.
The ozone setting
Ozone is a lung irritant. The U.S. EPA warns against using ozone generators in occupied rooms, and California limits ozone from air cleaners to 0.050 parts per million. If a unit has an optional ozone mode, leave it off. It also does not make the air cleaner in any way you can rely on.
Washable filters
A filter you wash sounds like a bargain. But a HEPA filter is not designed to get wet, and a washed one can lose its seal and its grade. Check the manual before you wash anything, and keep spare filters on hand. See our guide to cleaning an air purifier filter.
The 99.9 percent claim
Older pages often said an air purifier cleans the air by 99.9 percent. A HEPA filter catches 99.97 percent of particles at 0.3 micron as they pass through it. That is not the same as cleaning 99.9 percent of a room. How much of a room gets cleaned depends on airflow and time.
The risk to watch is a discontinued product. When a maker or a seller leaves the market, filters get hard to find, the warranty can end up worthless and the review pages that sold the unit stay online. Expect more of this as small brands come and go.
Pros and Cons
Pros: a pleasant red cabinet; a carbon layer for odors; a long warranty on paper.
Cons: no published CADR; an ozone setting; availability and filter supply are unclear; the old buying link no longer works.

FAQ
Is the Alpine Air LA-2700 still sold?
We could not confirm it. It was not on Amazon when we checked on October 10, 2026, and the old affiliate link is closed.
Is an ionizer safe?
Ionizers can make a little ozone. Look for a unit with a CARB certification, or skip the ionizer and choose a HEPA-only model. See the best air purifiers for home.
Can you wash a HEPA filter?
Most true HEPA filters should not be washed. Only wash a filter the maker says is washable, and let it dry fully.
Final Word
If you already own the LA-2700, keep the ozone setting off and use it as a small-room unit. If you are shopping, pick a model with a published CADR and a filter you can order. Our air purifier buying guide walks through the steps.
What happens next: shoppers will lean on certified, easy-to-restock models. Before you buy any purifier, check three things: a published CADR, a filter you can order today and a clear ozone statement. If one is missing, move on.
